With the long awaited Barbie movie blowing up the big screen, I've been asked a lot about "barbiecore" inteior design. To be honest, it does make me cringe a bit, but I can see how Barbie inspiration has infected our daily lives. interior design is no exception – the combination of pink colors and the use of luxurious materials has been labeled as "Barbiecore". When not executed correctly, Barbiecore inspired interiors can come off as tacky. If you are considering this trend for your next interior project, I've rounded up some tips to help you achieve Barbiecore interior design that is tasteful and sophisticated. Opt for a Pink Color Palette with Neutral Accents The key to achieving a Barbiecore interior design while still keeping it sophisticated is to stick to a palette of soft pinks and neutral accents. Soft pinks, mixed with blues and oranges, will bring a touch of Barbie to your space while maintaining an understated elegance. The nation’s top interior designers and architects participated in this year’s 44th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House, hosted by New York’s premiere local youth organization, the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. Each designer spent the eight weeks transforming The Carlton House Townhouse at 19 East 61st Street in New York City’s iconic Lenox Hill neighborhood. Hand-selected by the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Committee and led by its chair, renowned interior designer Bunny Williams, this year’s talented group of 21 designers and architects brought the interiors of The Carlton House Townhouse, an impressive 10,000-square-foot raw space, to life. The townhouse, which also has 5,000 square feet of outdoor space, sits adjacent to The Carlton House, a 68-unit residential luxury building. “This year’s team of participating designers and architects is an extraordinary mix of veterans and newcomers and who not only are doing amazing things for the interior design community, but are also dedicated to supporting our cause,” said Bunny Williams. This year's Show House raised over 2 million dollars for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.
